Darrel Burnett

Darrel Burnett has been one of the Brian LaViolette Foundation’s most trusted leaders and dearest friends since its very beginning. A friend of the LaViolette family for more than four decades, Darrel shared a special friendship with Brian and has faithfully helped carry Brian’s legacy forward ever since.

Following Brian’s passing, Darrel was asked to deliver the eulogy for one of his closest friends. During that heartfelt tribute, he made a simple but powerful promise: “In your name and memory, we all will accomplish great things.” More than three decades later, he continues to honor those words through his unwavering dedication to the Foundation.

Darrel served on the Foundation’s original Scholarship Selection Committee in 1992 and was a member of the original Board of Advisors. Today, he continues to serve on the Board of Directors.

As the Foundation’s longtime Master of Ceremonies, he has helped guide every major event with warmth, professionalism, and heartfelt sincerity. Behind the scenes, he has also generously shared his talents as a writer, editor, advisor, and trusted friend, helping ensure that Brian’s story is always told with dignity, compassion, and hope.

A respected broadcaster throughout his distinguished career, Darrel worked in Green Bay, Indianapolis, and New York before bringing his passion for storytelling to his current role as Director of Curation & Preservation for The Automobile Gallery & Event Center.

In recognition of his extraordinary friendship, leadership, and lifelong commitment to serving others, Darrel received the Brian LaViolette Spirit Award in 2014.

Darrel and his wife, Kelly, make their home in Milton, Wisconsin.
