Mario F. Fernandez (Cuban, 1946-2012) Imprisoned in Fidel Castro's Cuba as a teenager, Mario Fernandez fled his homeland that would lead through Mexico to the United States.  It was during his confinement that the eagle became an important symbol to Mario. Dreaming of freedom, he would close his eyes and imagine himself to be an eagle soaring through the expansive sky.
