From the Personal Collection of Charlie Dunne, Wind Vintage

This distinctive Longines offering brings together two pieces of horological history, a vintage Longines open-face pocket watch from approximately the 1930s or 1940s, accompanied by a first-edition copy of Longines Watches by renowned vintage-watch collector, author, and photographer John Goldberger.

Both pieces come from the personal collection of our dear friend Charlie Dunne of Wind Vintage, adding a meaningful layer of provenance to this special offering for the LaViolette Foundation.

THE LONGINES POCKET WATCH

The handsome open-face pocket watch reflects the distinctive elegance of the Art Deco era. Its two-tone silver sector, or “bullseye,” dial features bold Arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock, complemented by distinctive blued-steel hands.

Longines, founded in Saint-Imier, Switzerland in 1832, has long been recognized for its tradition of precision watchmaking. This pocket watch represents an era when a finely made mechanical timepiece was both a practical instrument and an object of enduring style.
