Originally issued to Canadian SAR (Search and Rescue) Techs in the early 2000's, this automatic diver 41 mm. SAR-D marked the beginning of the Marathon SAR line. The watch famously features a mil-spec Type I dial with cyclops date, designed with fully-lumed geometric hour markers providing quick legibility and maximum visibility under water or in dark environments. Built for design, the watch has an additional 'long' rubber strap piece that can be interchanged to wear over diving suits or for larger wrists.

The Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation would like to thank the Marathon Watch Company for their generous donation

With a legacy that dates back to 1941, Marathon has a deep and storied connection to military history. Headquartered in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, Marathon began by manufacturing timing instruments for the Allied Forces as they prepared to enter World War II. Today, under the leadership of the fourth generation of the Wein family, Marathon continues its tradition of excellence, producing a wide array of precision instruments measuring time, temperature, and distance.

Known for their military-grade durability and Swiss craftsmanship, Marathon watches meet the rigorous standards of the United States Military Standard MIL-PRF-46374G and those of other nations.

As the sole supplier of watches to the United States Armed Forces, Marathon has earned its place as a trusted name in military circles. Their watches, proudly bearing the "Swiss Made" designati, are designed in Canada and manufactured in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

By contributing to LaViolette auction, Marathon not only honors their rich military heritage but also supports the mission of the Brian LaViolette Foundation. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and for the opportunity to showcase these remarkable timepieces.
