The Oris Lou Gehrig Limited Edition celebrates that remarkable legacy. Based on the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date, the watch was limited to just 2,130 pieces, honoring the 2,130 consecutive games Lou Gehrig played for the New York Yankees.

The blue “4” on the date ring recalls his Yankees uniform number, the first number ever retired in Major League Baseball. The vertically brushed silver dial is a subtle reference to his famous nickname, the “Iron Horse.” On the case back, an engraving of Lou Gehrig provides an especially personal tribute to the man behind the legend.

Lou Gehrig’s life was tragically cut short by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, the neurodegenerative disease that became known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

In creating this special edition, Oris sought not only to honor Gehrig’s extraordinary life and character, but also to help continue the fight against ALS.

Oris proudly supports the work of The Lou and Eleanor Gehrig Family Foundation, which is dedicated to raising awareness of ALS and supporting research toward finding effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Continuing the Legacy

Oris created this special edition to honor Lou Gehrig and to support the important work of The Lou and Eleanor Gehrig Family Foundation in raising awareness of ALS and advancing research into Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Now, through the generosity of Oris, this particular watch has been donated to the Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation’s Defining Moments Auction, giving its story a new chapter.

Having already helped support the Lou and Eleanor Gehrig Family Foundation through its original purpose, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this watch through our auction will now benefit the Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation and its mission of providing educational opportunities to young people.

It is a remarkable continuation of a remarkable legacy, a watch created to remember Lou Gehrig, now helping carry Brian LaViolette’s legacy forward as well.
