This special Fears Brunswick 'Jubilee Edition' commemorates and celebrates Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. With only 70 examples produced, it was exclusively made and sold during the Jubilee year of 2022. While the original plan was to make the watch a regular production, when Queen Elizabeth sadly passed away in September of that year, it was decided that only 70 watches would be made in celebration of her 70 years of service.
As the brand's "Jubilee Edition," this timepiece features a Royal Purple dial, which perfectly replicates this historic color closely associated with Great Britain's royalty. Expertly made in Germany, this regal tone is created using a special kind of lacquer with different drops of pigment added to achieve the exact desired tone. It is finished with a light-catching sunburst pattern radiating from the dial's center. This effect is complemented by the concentric circle finishing on the sunken sub-seconds at 6 o’clock. It is powered by a beautifully finished, Swiss made, manual winding ETA 7001 movement, which can be wound each day using a traditional ‘onion’-shaped winding crown. Made in Switzerland, the crown’s grooves catch the light, adding a touch of radiance to the edge of the case.
Built around Fears’ own 38mm Brunswick case, this graceful and complex silhouette is an exacting object to create. It takes its inspiration from a gentleman’s cushion case watch in the Fears archives, first made in 1924, and a dial color used in the 1940s and 50s. The elegant cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces, with even the solid caseback having a gentle sweep. Each individually-numbered case’s glancing curves are machined from 316L stainless steel in Germany, to a level usually reserved for precious metals. The depth of the polish showcases the sophistication of the machinery and the skill of the operator.
This Brunswick watch comes with a royal purple strap that was vegetable tanned in Britain’s oldest vegetable tannery, Bristol’s Thomas Ware & Sons, and the stainless steel pin buckles are subtly engraved with Fears’ signature ‘Pipette’ logo. Individually numbered, this unique watch edition carries a unique serial number engraved discreetly on the caseback, which also features a special engraving marking The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
