David Parmentier Scholarship
David Parmentier was a graduate of the class of 1979 at DePere High School. David is a former Captain at Green Bay Fire Department and has a great passion for the field. Working three jobs while in high school, he knew he wanted to continue his education and attended NWTC for one year in Police Science.
When he learned of a position for a Firefighter/EMT at the Allouez Fire Department, he applied and was accepted at the age of 19. Wanting to become a Paramedic, David applied and was accepted by the City of Green Bay in 1985. Achieving Paramedic in 1989, he was promoted through the ranks to Captain. In 2005, due to an injury in the line of duty, he made the decision to retire with 30 years of combined service.
David said he couldn’t think of a better calling for him. Growing up on the family farm south of De Pere he learned early that life is a group effort. Hearing sirens, the family would load up their station wagon and head out. With the kids safe in the car, his Mom and Dad would help when and where they could.
The David Parmentier Scholarship will be a presented to a student who is entering into the field of public safety, which includes law enforcement, fire safety and Emergency Medical Services.
