Purchased by a young US Army soldier in Vietnam on New Year’s Eve December 31, 1968, this watch amazingly still retains its original original box, papers, and sales receipt. Enhancing the lot, it comes with an original issue of the Stars & Stripes which was published on the same day that the watch was purchased. The military newspaper’s front page story features an image of the very first “Earthrise,” captured by the astronauts of the Apollo 8 Mission a week earlier on Christmas Eve when they became the the first people to orbit the moon.
