From Chase Fancher of Oak and Oscar…
“We opened our archives and created a one-of-a-kind prototype based off our retired Humboldt 12hr. The Humboldt LaViolette Edition is the first Humboldt to have a fixed, stainless-steel bezel, making for a classic and understated look. The steel bezel was hand-machined in our Chicago workshop by our Director of Watchmaking, Nathan Bobinchak.
The case back is engraved with Brian's wise words: "The journey is the reward." The Humboldt LaViolette Edition is presented with a waxed canvas watch wallet, multiple strap options, and a strap changing tool.
Our handmade, two-piece leather strap was made by a local craftsman using Chicago-based Horween Leather and tapers from 20 mm to 18 mm at the stainless steel buckle.
Inspired by the story of Brian’s very first watch which prominently featured his favorite NFL football team, we have included a secondary dark green and gold canvas strap.
The entire Oak & Oscar team is honored to help provide scholarships to so many deserving students in Brian’s memory.”
The story of Oak & Oscar is one of guts, perseverance, and beauty. Chase Fancher left his corporate real estate job to start an independent watch brand in Chicago. Starting in 2015, their inaugural model, the Burnham, captured the hearts of watch-lovers all around the world. The brand has gone from strength to strength in recent years, releasing seventeen different watches in in the span of eight years.
Oak & Oscar has firmly established itself as a burgeoning independent brand that sets its self apart from micro-brands in the space by assembling, regulating, and performing quality control in their offices, along with having an in-house watchmaker that can service and make their own parts in case of shortage or emergency.
Quality designs along with high-end finishing like a sandwich (double layer) dial and custom rotor leaves nothing to be desired. Oak & Oscar is the definition of old-school American quality paired with modern, forward-thinking design.
