$10,000 Scholarship Surprise at Luxemburg-Casco High School

One of the best days of the year is when we get to surprise a student with a $10,000 scholarship. It takes a lot of planning — and even more secret-keeping — from the school, family, and scholarship team to make the moment truly special.

This year's surprise took place at Luxemburg–Casco High School when the LaViolette family, along with representatives from the Greater Green Bay Chamber, visited a classroom to announce senior Annie Annoye as the 2026 Brian LaViolette Scholarship of Excellence recipient. It was an emotional and memorable moment shared with Annie's family, friends, and teachers.

Annie plans to attend UW–Green Bay, where she will study human biology in preparation for a career as an anesthesiologist assistant. She stood out among an exceptional group of finalists for her academic dedication, involvement in school and community activities, and the confidence and humility she brings to everything she does. Throughout the interview process, she showed thoughtful reflection on her journey and a clear sense of purpose for the future. Like all six finalists, she embodies the values of the Brian LaViolette Scholarship: learning, leadership, and making a positive impact on others.

Annie, along with Nikki Schneider, Lisa Jossart, and Carla Zellmer from the Greater Green Bay Chamber, Doug and Renee LaViolette, and Kristin Kreuser.

Each year, the 17 high schools in the Partners in Education district nominate one student to apply for the scholarship. From there, finalists are selected and interviewed before a recipient is chosen. For the past 20 years, we’ve been incredibly grateful to partner with the Greater Green Bay Chamber throughout this process. Nikki, Carla, and Lisa were with us every step of the way this year, helping guide the selection process and making all of the behind-the-scenes work possible.

Students selected for the Brian LaViolette Scholarship of Excellence demonstrate academic excellence, a strong sense of character, and leadership potential. They are team players with a thirst for knowledge, hallmarks of the values by which Brian lived.
